Every child's support follows the graduated approach from the SEND Code of Practice, a cycle we move through with you, never around you.
Observe and assess: Your child's key person and our SENCO watch how your child plays, communicates and joins in, and listen carefully to what you see at home, because you know your child best.
Plan together: If your child would benefit from something extra, we agree simple, achievable targets with you and set them out in an individual support plan.
Support in action: Most support is woven into everyday play, small groups, visual routines, extra time with a familiar adult — whatever helps your child take their next step.
Review together. We sit down with you regularly to look at progress, celebrate what's working and adjust what isn't. We place particular focus on the early identification of speech, language and communication needs, spotting them early, when support makes the biggest difference.
Where a child needs more, we work alongside Waltham Forest's early years and inclusion services, health visitors and therapists — and support families through funding routes and, where appropriate, an Education, Health and Care needs assessment. We act as your child's advocate: championing, chasing, following through.
