Settling in

How does settling in work?

Before your child starts, we offer opportunities for you and your child to visit, spend time in the setting through stay-and-play, and begin getting to know the team. Where helpful, sessions can build up gradually. We adapt settling in to the individual child rather than following one fixed timetable.

Food, clothing & practicalities

Do you provide food?

Children bring a morning snack and packed lunch from home, and fresh water is available all day. We are a nut-aware setting, so no nuts, please.

Does my child need to be toilet trained?

No. We support toilet training in partnership with you, whenever your child is ready.

What should my child wear and bring?

Comfortable clothes they can play in, a named snack and packed lunch, a change of clothes, and nappies and wipes if needed.

Absence & illness

What should I do if my child is going to be absent?

Please contact Morning Glory Pre-School at the beginning of the session if your child is going to be absent.

Our contact details

When can my child return after vomiting or diarrhoea?

We follow current public-health guidance on infection control in early-years settings. Children should remain away from the pre-school until 48 hours after the last episode of vomiting or diarrhoea. Please seek advice from a healthcare professional where needed.

SEND

Can you support my child’s additional needs?

We work with families to understand and support children’s individual needs. Inclusion is led by our Manager and SENCO, Susan Dent. Please talk to us early so we can plan together.
